Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka is a British-American musician and sitarist. She was first within her age bracket to receive an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young emerging star on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She's a daughter of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the beginning of her career moving between London and New Delhi. In the age of thirteen she performed her first show in New Delhi. After that, she relocated in Encinitas CA, where she obtained her High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Even though she's very young Anouskha is a star in her performing and recording. Since quite some time, she performs regularly alongside her father. She released her first solo album Anourag in the year 1998. Two years later she released the Grammy nominated Live in Carnegie Hall. In addition to performing in every major venue, she also has a long stage career. Anoushka's career does not only include musical performances. Bapi The love of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that is a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In 2003 she starred as an Bharat Nathyam young dancer Dance Like a Man. Anoushka is still progressing in her career and we can expect many more things to come from this amazing woman. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent much of her youth living between London and Delhi then moving to California in the state where she attended the high school. In Delhi at his 75thbirthday celebration Anoushka first made an appearance playing the sitar before the crowd of four years following her nine-year-old father. Anoushka gained numerous valuable experience when she accompanied her father when he toured the world. It included performances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and recording together with George Harrison. She was the first woman to be awarded the House of Commons Shield, presented by British Parliament to recognize her musical talent and artistic ability within performing in the Asian Arts.
